FORMER WA Tourism Council chief executive officer Ron Buckey (pictured) passed away last Thursday, aged 65. Mr Buckey was a commissioner of the Western Australian Tourism Commission from 1990 to 1997 and was elected president of the Tourism Council WA in 2003. He was appointed chief executive officer in 2005, a position which he held until December 2007. As head of the council, Mr Buckey played a major part in WA tourism issues such as the new sporting stadium.
