New director general for DoIR

Premier Alan Carpenter has today announced the appointment of Anne Nolan to the position of director general, Department of Industry and Resources.

The Premier said Ms Nolan brought a wealth of experience to the important position, overseeing a department which played a crucial role in building the Western Australian economy.

Ms Nolan is currently the Deputy Director General at the Department of the Premier and Cabinet.

"Anne Nolan has extensive experience in leading and developing public sector agencies including as the Chief Executive at the Independent Market Operator and the Coordinator of Energy at the Office of Energy," the Premier said.

Ms Nolan had also held a number of senior positions within the Department of Treasury and Finance including the role of Assistant Under Treasurer (Economic).

She held a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) and a Master of Economics from the University of Western Australia.

Working closely with the Minister for Trade; Innovation and Science, the Minister for State Development and the Minister for Resources; Industry and Enterprises, Ms Nolan was looking forward to the new challenges ahead as Director General with the department.

"I am looking forward to leading this important department," Ms Nolan said.

"WA has a strong and diverse economy, which will be a very exciting challenge."

Mr Carpenter said he expected Ms Nolan to bring a strong strategic and practical focus to the broad economic agenda of the department.

"I am confident Ms Nolan will bring great focus to working with industry to grow our existing industries and to develop new innovative industries," he said.

Ms Nolan was appointed for a five-year term that will commence on Monday, July 7.
