THE Subiaco Redevelopment Authority has approved the development of a $4.5 million tavern to be built by Perth tavern owner Sonja Gastevich.

Sonja currently operates the Old Bailey Tavern in Joondalup and started construction of the East Perth tavern, Bailey on the Majestic, about a month ago.

She lodged a liquor licence application in February this year for The Bailey at Centro, located on the grass reserve outside Subiaco train station, and is awaiting an outcome.

Stuart Bell’s stay at Friend’s Restaurant will be slightly longer. Stuart came into the Friends kitchen while Gwenael Lesle departed on a European holiday.

Upon his return, Gwenael has decided to leave Friends. Stuart, who has been the acting head chef since March this year, will head the Friends team into their new winter menu, which will be released soon.
