Neptune extends Gorgon work

Neptune Marine Services says it has extended its scope of work at the massive Gorgon gas project as it secures various new works valued at $12 million.

The oil and gas services company said it had been contracted by Boskalis Australia to provide a range of diving support services on the $43 billion Gorgon project off the coast of Western Australia.

Late last year Boskalis Australia, the subsidiary of Netherlands-headquartered Royal Boskalis Westminster, secured a €500 million ($A723 million) contract from Gorgon operator, Chevron, to design and construct the port at Barrow Island.

Neptune today said the Boskalis work was in addition to the company's $5 million Gorgon contract it secured earlier this year.

"Our involvement in the Gorgon Project is consistent with our focus on securing longer term contracts that provide Neptune with more predictable and stable revenue streams," Neptune chief executive Christian Lange said.

Meantime, the company today announced it had secured $12 million in new works, which include inspection and scheduled maintenance services for ConocoPhillips and Woodside and engineering and manufacturing of subsea equipment for GE Oil and Gas and BP in the UK.

"This latest round of work confirms the steady recovery and long term growth opportunities that exist in the Australian oil and gas industry, and particularly Western Australia," Mr Lange said.

"Internationally, our US business is showing positive signs of recovery, albeit a little slower than anticipated, as dictated by the recovery of the broader US economy.

"Our UK and Asian businesses continue to perform consistently in line with increasing industry demand for and associated expenditure on offshore operations and maintenance, subsea IRM and ROV services, while our successful entry into Qatar holds the potential for significant longer term opportunities."
