Landsdale-based Allight's parent company National Hire Group has purchased leading pump manufacturer Sykes Group.

Sykes has been a major player in the pump market for 40 years and the acquisition expands Allight's stable of mining and construction equipment brands.

In a statement Allight said, "Following the acquisition, the combined group will have greater capacity to meet customer demand for sales and support of pumps, lighting towers and other distributed products."

"This is a company transforming acquisition for National Hire's equipment sales and support business," said National Hire managing director Andrew Aitken.

"Sykes Group provides scale, volume and distribution for National Hire that will help underpin future growth," he said.

"Combining Sykes with National Hire is very exciting because the businesses operate in very common markets and appear to have similar core values," said Sykes chairman Jon Collins.

"Like Sykes, the Allight brand is very well respected, and being in the same family as Westrac and Coates Hire will enable Sykes to raise its profile and access resources to create even more growth opportunities for all stakeholders," he said.

Completion of the deal is subject to a number of conditions and is expected to take place before the end of 2010.

Allight is an exclusive Australasia distributor of Perkins engines, FG Wilson power generators, Rotair compressors and Godwin pumps.
