Crescent Capital Partners-controlled National Dental Care has entered the Western Australian market through the acquisition of Perth-based DB Dental for an undisclosed sum.

National Dental Care will take ownership of DB Dental’s 17 practices across Perth to build its national portfolio to over 60.

DB Dental was established in 1987 by David Bailey and his wife, Susie, and is Australia’s largest privately owned dental group, with more than 250 staff.

NDC chief executive Gordon Towell said the acquisition would help accelerate the company’s growth plans and gives NDC a substantial footprint in WA.

“Our two companies already have much in common; we both have a genuine focus on excellent patient care, have a similar business model, and use central support teams to provide a range of high-level support services to the practices,” Mr Towell said.

“Indeed, David, Susie and I all personally share the belief that the dental industry needs to focus on good patient outcomes and clinical excellence, as well as being committed to both staff and provider training together with investment in new dental technologies.

“We are delighted to welcome all DB Dental staff and dentists into the NDC fold.”

Mr and Mrs Bailey will continue to manage the DB Dental business as well as focusing on expanding new practices under the DB Dental brand.

Mr Bailey said working with a large, well-funded company would help fast-track DB Dental’s plans for expansion across the state.

DB Dental has long been recognised in the dental industry as ‘the best in the west’; now together with our new partners at NDC, I genuinely believe that we can help build the best dental group in Australia,” he said.

NDC said the acquisition would not include job losses as DB Dental would continue to run as a separate entity.

Mrs Bailey said DB Dental was a family business and the staff and dentists’ hard work and commitment was the reason for the business’s success.

“I wanted to ensure that the future for all our employees is secure, and they will continue to enjoy being part of a growing and successful dental business focusing on great patient outcomes,” she said.
