Must, Red Cabbage win Gold Plate Awards

Tuesday, 26 October, 2010 - 09:18

Must Margaret River and Red Cabbage were the standout winners in last night's 2010 Gold Plate Awards, with Must taking home three of the coveted awards in front of a 1000-strong crowd at the Perth Convention Centre.

The popular wine bar and restaurant took out the Wine List of the Year, Steakhouse and Regional Licensed Dining awards - more than any other establishment on the night.

The Premier's Award went to Red Cabbage, which had the highest overall score of all of the finalists.

The establishment also won in the Metro Licensed Casual Dining category.

Catering Institute president Craig Joel opened the proceedings by presenting Millbrook Winery's Kathryn Buttfield with the Bill Thompson Award.

Mr Joel said that the award recognised an industry participant who Mr Thompson would have been "personally happy to present it to".

The Premier's Award went to Red Cabbage, which had the highest overall score of all of the finalists.

The establishment also won in the Metro Licensed Casual Dining category.

The Venue Caterers Award category was too close to call, with the Perth Convention Centre and the Perth Concert Hall both awarded a Gold Plate.

The convention centre's executive chef Nigel Keen momentarily left the kitchen to collect the award.
