The Sakura Ya in Hay Street has a new owner, Ali Li, and a new name TAPPAN YA. The 130 seat restaurant offers an authentic Japanese dining experience.

Japanese chef, Keiko, cooks at the central table, giving diners choosing the teppan yaki barbecue set course a theatrical dining experience. On offer are set teppan yaki menus which include salad, miso soup and rice.

The kiku selection at $38.50 a person includes tempura (deep fried seafood and vegetables), prawn, scallop, fish and chicken dishes and fruit.

The matsu selection at $63.50 a person includes tempura, lobster, beef and chicken dishes and fruit.

Tappan Ya’s special bento lunch box includes sashimi or California maki, tempura and tori teriyaki (chicken).

The vegetarian bento dinner includes yasai tempura (deep fried vegetables), age dashi tofu, age nasu (fried egg plant), makimono and yasai ni (steamed seasonal vegetables).

The restaurant area is open from 11:30-2:30 Mondays to Fridays for lunch, and from 5:30-9:30 Mondays to Saturdays for dinner.

THE AGNI Indian restaurant in Innaloo offers traditional northern, southern and Tandoori Indian dishes set in rich Indian decor.

Dishes are prepared according to diners tastes – mild, medium or hot – and include goan machilli curry, fish cubes in tomato, coconut, tamarind and curry leaf sauce, jhinga mirchwala, pan-tossed king prawns with onion, red chilli, garlic and fresh green her sauce, murgh makhani, boneless pieces of chicken in a cashew, tomato and butter sauce, gosht curry, cubes of lamb in Indian spices, glazed onions and cardamon sauce, and palak paneer, cottage cheese cubes simmered in a garlic flavoured spinach gravy.

THE RED ORCHID NOODLE BAR - RESTAURANT in Northbridge offers contemporary Thai dining. Entrees include char-grilled quail marinated in lemon grass and herbs $5.50), garlic prawn or squid marinated in garlic and black pepper served with hokkien noodles and vegetables ($13.50) and a selection of wok fried dishes including crocodile or emu ($16.50) with a choice of Thai vegetables such as Red Orchid spicy bamboo shoots, red peppers, carrots and long beans in sweet curry sauce. Char-grilled dishes include prawn, kangaroo or barramundi fillet ($14.50) with a choice of sauces.

BOAT TORQUE CRUISES’ Swan River and vineyard Cruise offers wine, historic homes and great food. the trip includes on board wine and cheese, wine tastings at the Houghton and Sandalford vineyards, buffet lunch at Mulberry Farm, including bottled wine, and on board entertainment.
