The state government has contracted two Perth builders deliver 19 social houses in Perth's southern suburb of Hamilton Hill.

With a price tag of $4.8 million, Osborne Park-builder INKA will deliver seven three-bedroom, two-bathroom, two-storey townhouses for families on Kwenda Approach within the under-construction OneOneFive development on the former Hamilton Senior High School site.

The homes will be made available to families on the public housing waitlist, and add to the 16 dwellings to be built in the neighbouring suburb of Coolbellup.

Founded in 2021, INKA has previously built compact houses in Hamilton Hill.

In January, Dale Alcock Projects started construction on 12 new one- and two-bedroom social homes on Karda Way, also within the OneOneFive Hamilton Hill site.

Those homes are being built offsite using timber-framed construction methods and are designed to meet a high energy efficiency rating.

Lots at the OneOneFive residential estate on the former Hamilton Senior High School started selling in 2021.

The project will deliver 330 new homes of around 232 lots, to house up to 800 residents on the 11.9-hectare site off Stock Road.

“Importantly, the first seven new social homes constructed by INKA are three-bedroom, two-bathroom homes and will provide housing to families on the public housing waitlist,” Housing Minister John Carey said.

“A further twelve new, one- and two-bedroom timber frame social homes are also currently under construction.

“We’re doing everything we can to bolster the supply of housing throughout Western Australia, particularly for those who need it the most.”

Fremantle MLA Simone McGurk said OneOneFive Hamilton Hill was an exciting development that was bringing housing diversity and choice to Fremantle, including for the most vulnerable members of the community.

“The Cook government is boosting housing supply throughout WA and I’m proud to see more housing delivered in my electorate of Fremantle,” she said,

“The OneOneFive development in Hamilton Hill also recognises the site’s history as a school, and its Indigenous heritage, through street names, public art, and built form.

“The development showcases what can be achieved with modern planning, sustainable objectives and local involvement in the process.”
