Engineering and construction company Monadelphous has secured new contracts and extensions with mining majors BHP and Rio Tinto, worth about $110 million.

Monadelphous was awarded 12-month extensions from BHP’s iron ore and nickel divisions to continue to provide maintenance services in the Pilbara.

Specifically, it will provide services for shutdowns and outages, as well as complete minor capital works at BHP’s Mt Whaleback, Jimblebar, Eastern Ridge, Mining Area C and Yandi iron ore sites.

Monadelphous will also continue to provide mechanical and electrical maintenance, shutdown and project services at BHP Nickel West’s operations.

Separately, the Victoria Park-based contractor will complete construction works and upgrades to Rio Tinto’s Cape Lambert port facility near Karratha, as part of a panel agreement.

Those works are expected to finish in July 2023.

Rio has also tasked Monadelphous with completing upgrades to systems at East Intercourse Island and Cape Lambert, due in the third quarter of 2022.

Shares in Monadelphous closed up 1.2 per cent this afternoon to trade at $9.41.
