Monadelphous wins $100m in NW and Qld contracts

Monadelphous Group Ltd has been awarded three new engineering construction and maintenance contracts worth over $100 million in total.

The engineering firm's construction division has won a major construction contract associated with BHP Billiton Ltd's Yabulu nickel extension project in Queensland, as well as a large structural and mechanical construction contract at Rio Tinto Ltd's Yandicoogina iron ore mine in WA.

Both contracts are expected to be completed in 2006.

The company's maintenance and industrial services division has won also won a contract for ongoing structural refurbishment at Rio's Tom Price iron ore operations. The contract is for two years with the option of a further year.

Yesterday, fellow Perth-based engineering firm Clough Ltd announced its offshore oil and gas division had secured a $170 million contract to construct a platform for OMV New Zealand for the Maari oil field, expected to produce 35,000 barrels of oil a day.
