Monadelphous secures $180m of new contracts

Applecross-based engineering services giant Monadelphous Group Ltd has secured new construction projects worth around $180 million, the comapny has announced.

Monadelphous Group Ltd (ASX:MND) today announced it has secured three new construction projects with a total value of approximately $180 million. The projects are:

Rio Tinto Iron Ore: Cape Lampert Upgrade 80MTPA Project

Structural, mechanical and piping installation works as part of the upgrade of the Cape Lambert deep water port facilities. The contract is expected to be completed in late 2008.

BHP Billiton Iron Ore: Rapid Growth Project 4 - Finucane Island Stockyard Upgrade

Structural, mechanical and piping works associated with the construction and upgrade to conveyor systems and transfer stations at the Finucane Island port facility. The contract is scheduled for completion in early 2009.

Oxiana:Prominent Hill Gold Mine Project

Structural, mechanical and piping works for the crushing, screening and mills areas for Oxiana's Prominent Hill Gold Mine Project in South Australia. The contract is expected to be completed in the middle of 2008.

Monadelphous Group Managing Director Robert Velletri welcomed these latest awards.

"Oxiana is a new client for us and we are very pleased to be associated with this significant resource project in South Australia. We recently opened a dedicated office in Adelaide and are very focused on pursuing opportunities in the region," said Mr Velletri.

"It's also pleasing to secure ongoing work with long-term customers BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto Iron Ore. The latest awards demonstrate that by continuing to deliver successfully for our key customers, we are able to expand into new opportunities.

"The Cape Lambert contract follows the work we have successfully completed for Rio Tinto Iron Ore on Phase A and B of their Dampier Port upgrade.

"The work for BHP Billiton Iron Ore follows on from two large projects we are in the process of completing for RGP3, one at Nelson Point and Finucane Island in Port Hedland, and the other at Mining Area C," he added.
