Monadelphous in $200m Shell deal

Engineering firm Monadelphous Group has won a $200 million contract for work on Shell’s Prelude floating liquefied natural gas project in the Browse Basin.

In a statement, Monadelphous said the initial seven-year contract included maintenance, brownfield modifications and turnaround services to the LNG process plant, support utilities, hull and non-process infrastructure including accommodation and control rooms.

The deal includes an option for a further two-year extension.

It also includes the delivery of fabrication services from Darwin.

Monadelphous managing director Rob Velletri said the contract win reflected the company’s goal to become the ‘partner of choice’ in the provision of FLNG services.

“This contract is of significant strategic importance to Monadelphous,” he said.

“Our successful history of delivering maintenance services to LNG facilities around Australia demonstrates our leadership in oil and gas maintenance and our capability to deliver a diverse range of operations and maintenance services for both onshore and offshore facilities.”

Monadelphous closed 1.3 per cent lower to $6.62 each.

More broadly, Prelude's underwater drilling campaign continues, and it is in its second phase of six, while final testing of subsea manifolds in Malaysia have been completed as of October.

With regard to the vessel itslef, only the gantry structure module remains to be added to complete the structure, with further work to be done inside.
