Mission possible

Mission Australia is seeking people to take part in its annual Winter Sleeepout.

Winter Sleepout, coinciding with National Homeless Person’s Week from August 4 to 10 is designed to raise awareness of Australia’s homeless population.

However, instead of the usual large public sleepout participants are being encouraged to get involved by hosting their own 2004 Winter Sleepout fundraising activity such as a backyard, school or office sleepout, a breakfast or morning tea or even an office pyjama party any time during the month of August.

Mission Australia WA manager Ann Russell-Brown said homelessness was a big problem in Australia.

"It doesn’t take a huge amount of money to make a difference. For instance, $20 will help provide a person with one night of emergency accommodation.
