Macmahon Holdings and Mineral Resources have recently announced major board moves with the appointment of new non-executive directors.

Mineral Resources has appointed experienced mining executive Jacqueline McGill as an independent non-executive director, while Dharmendra ‘Dharma’ Chandran joins the board of MacMahon Holdings.

Mr Chandran today started his role as an independent non-executive director.

He is a non-executive director of 7-Eleven Australia and the Committee for Economic Development of Australia.

“Dharma brings over 20 years of people and culture, leadership, and organisational change management experience with significant industry experience,” Macmahon chair Hamish Tyrwhitt said.

“His expertise will be invaluable to the Macmahon Board, as well as the wider Macmahon organisation, which united has a highly skilled workforce of over 9,000 people.

“The appointment of Dharma, together with the recent appointment of Grahame White both as independent non-executive directors, will enhance our overall board governance as we execute our strategic priorities.”

Ms McGill started her new role at MinRes yesterday, bringing more than 30 years' experience in large-scale operations in the mining and resources sectors.

She holds director roles at New Hope Corporation Limited, Gold Fields Limited and 29 Metals Limited.

Ms McGill was also chief executive at Mitsui Coal and Olympic Dam Corporation, which was part of BHP.

MinRes has also promoted Jenna Mazza as joint company secretary, replacing Derek Oelofse, who resigned from the role to focus on being the company’s corporate finance general manager.

The appointments come as MinRes non-executive director Kelvin Flynn resigned after 14 years at the company.

Mr Flynn has been on the MinRes board since 2010 and was chair of the audit and risk committee for nine years.

MinRes managing director Chris Ellison thanked Mr Flynn for his contribution to the company and welcomed Ms McGill to the board.

“His can-do attitude is the epitome of MinRes’ values. I wish him every success in the future,” Mr Ellison said.

“We are pleased to have a director with Jacqueline’s extensive operational experience join the MinRes board as the company continues to deliver on the key projects that are the foundation of our future success.”

MinRes chairman James McClements said Ms McGill brought vast experience across multiple commodities and had a reputation as a champion of gender equity and workplace diversity.
