MaxMine joins tech council

Adelaide-headquartered MaxMine has become the first mining industry representative to join Australia’s recently formed technology council.

MaxMine, which also has an office in Perth, announced this morning it had joined the Technology Council of Australia (TCA) – an industry body and lobby group that aims to grow the value of Australia’s tech sector to $250 billion by 2030.

Established in October last year, the TCA already has 60 member companies. They include Google, Microsoft, Seek, Canva, Atlassian and Afterpay. 

MaxMine, which specialises in an AI platform to improve the productivity of mobile plant equipment, said the mining sector was often under-represented by the Australian tech landscape.

Chief executive Coert Du Plessis, who was appointed to the role in July, said the company’s decision to join the TCA was swift and logical.

“We felt it was important for MaxMine to join the TCA as our missions are highly-aligned,” he said.

“As a high-end technology player, MaxMine sees the talent crisis is hurting Australia’s competitiveness and inhibiting innovation with increased staff turnover.

“The TCA and its Members will be an effective amplifier of the critical messages to successfully overcome this crisis.

“The TCA recognises the importance of the Australian mining sector.

“As with all the other members of TCA, we are keen to be an active party collectively working together to create more opportunities in the Australian technology sector.”

MaxMine, which also has offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Cape Town, is planning to grow its Australian team by up to 60 per cent in the next year.

The company has 50 employees in total, more than half of which are based in Adelaide.
