Perth-based company director and accountant Marcus Michael, who worked with multiple mining and exploration companies, passed away last Thursday at the age of 48.

Mr Michael was a founding director of Marshall Michael Chartered Accountants, where he was managing director from 1994 to 2009.

He was also serving as executive director of Cardinal Resources and Beacon Minerals, and as non-executive director of Argent Minerals and St George Mining.

Argent Minerals managing director David Busch said Mr Michael had made a significant contribution to Argent Minerals and the junior minerals exploration industry in Australia.

“We will remember him as a highly talented, energetic, enthusiastic, and inspirational business colleague and confidante,” Mr Busch said.

Beacon Minerals executive chairman Geoffrey Greenhill said Mr Michael had made a major contribution to the funding and development of the Halley’s East mine, and provided enthusiastic support to the site management for the past three years.

Mr Michael also served on the management committee of Kimberley Residential Aged Care in West Leederville.

Mr Michael’s place on the boards of Argent, Beacon and St George is being taken by Sarah Shipway, an account executive at Marshall Michael.

Ms Shipway currently serves as company secretary for those firms.

Mr Michael leaves behind a wife and two sons.
