THE Western Australian Government has released a draft master plan for one of Australia’s biggest industrial redevelopments for public comment.

The Hope Valley Wattleup Redevelopment Project draft master plan outlines how the 1,000 hectare project area will be redeveloped to create an estimated 10,000 jobs.

It includes opportunities such as:

p Development of eco-industrial park concepts that promote more efficient use of infrastructure and reuse and recycling of industrial by-products as inputs for other activities;

p Relocation of established industries to purpose-build precincts where they can profit through colocation with other businesses that have commercial synergy;

p Establishment of activities to complement and support current and proposed bulk cargo facilities; and

p A distribution centre servicing the growing southern suburbs of Perth and the State’s South West region.

Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the draft plan built on the Fremantle Rockingham Industrial Redevelopment Strategy and other studies undertaken over the past 10 years.

Submissions on the draft plan need to be lodged by March 4.
