FOUR story ideas have been selected from the pool of applications from Western Australian indigenous filmmakers for production and broadcast on ABC1.

Last September, the state government via ScreenWest announced a $250,000 partnership with the ABC TV Indigenous Department to produce four short documentaries.

Culture and Arts Minister John Day said the applicants were encouraged to think outside the usual documentary format and explore new approaches to telling stories that would engage and entertain a national audience.

The commissioned ideas are: Magic Quandong, an observational documentary by Karla Hart; a dance documentary by Perun Bonser called Unspoken; Dot and Kim West's observational documentary, Muster Up; and Ngurra Wanggagu, a poetic love story about a day in the life of a family and their country by Tyson Mowarin.
