PREMIER Alan Carpenter has announced the introduction of a lobbyist register for WA, which will not include former premier Brian Burke or lobbyist Julian Grill. The register is expected to improve transparency and allow the government to better scrutinise the activities of lobbyists and whom they represent. The proposal has provoked a mixed reaction amongst lobbyists and attracted strong criticism from some quarters.
