LIFELINE WA is set to refresh its major fundraising event this year, with a new formula replacing the traditional Black Diamond charity ball.

Lifeline has dispensed the traditional three-course formal ball structure and instead will this year host what it calls a roaring 20s Black Diamond Supper Club – a tapas-style meal with wine tastings and dynamic entertainment.

Telecommunications company iiNet is the principal sponsor of the event. Its association with Lifeline WA started in 2010 when it made the Lifeline crisis support line free of charge to its customers, and provided internet services to Lifeline.

The supper club event, to be held on August 25, will generate funds to expand Lifeline’s community education programs and train more telephone crisis support volunteers.

Lifeline WA chief executive Fiona Kalaf said increased demand on its services made fundraising initiatives such as the Black Diamond Supper Club extremely important.

“Suicide is a very heavy topic, so the Black Diamond Supper Club is an opportunity for the Perth community to celebrate life, and some of the little luxuries that go with it, while raising much-needed funds to further our vision of a community free of suicide,” she said.
