Liberty Flexible Workspaces has launched a new location in West Perth, as well as expanding its footprint in the CBD.

Liberty has opened a new 600 square metre facility at 35 Outram Street in West Perth and has added level 12 to its existing facilities at 197 St Georges Terrace, which includes level 14 and its training and conference centre housed on the ground floor.

The additional level takes Liberty’s total footprint in the building to almost 3,000sqm.

Liberty said level 12 at 197 St Georges Terrace had opened at 87 per cent occupancy and had been designed to accommodate the changing landscape of work, featuring video technology to facilitate virtual and online meetings.

Liberty founder and chief executive Jamie Vine said COVID-19 pandemic had accelerated the rate of change in how people work.

“The temporary ‘work from home’ measures taken during the worst of the pandemic are being translated into reconsidered real estate strategies with a focus on agility,” Mr Vine said.

“Long-term leases tie up a lot of capital and put handcuffs on an organisation’s ability to upsize or downsize. We focus on delivering a more accommodating solution.”

Mr Vine said the pandemic had highlighted several issues with long-term leasing strategies and that many organisations were dealing with the legacy of accommodation decisions made years ago.

“I anticipate corporate organisations will reduce their exposure to long leases and reduce their footprint as soon as they are able,” he said.

“I expect businesses to allow more people to work flexibly which could mean continuing to allow some working from home (WFH) and partnering with flexible workspace providers like Liberty to facilitate more collaborative tasks”.

The group operates more than 6,500sqm of space offering private offices, co-working space, meeting rooms and virtual offices across five locations; in the CBD, West Perth and Burswood.
