LandCorp is seeking a development partner for the northern 120 hectares of its Eglinton landholding in Perth's northern corridor.

Land Minister Brendon Grylls said the selection of a developer would be through a two stage process.

"Once expressions of interest are assessed, a short-list would then be invited to respond to a detailed Request for Proposal," he said.

The successful partner will finalise a local structure plan for Eglinton, while providing 50 per cent of the cost of that plan, and manage the development and sales of the northern 120ha of the project.

When fully developed, Eglinton will deliver around 3,000 housing lots.

Expressions of interest close May 5 and a preferred development partner will be announced in October.

LandCorp will launch a second partnering opportunity for the southern 120ha portion of its Eglington landholding once planning for the Eglinton district centre and train station are further advanced.

"The state government's vision for Eglinton is to create a well-planned community estate providing a variety of home sites, affordable living options and community facilities within the rapidly-growing and much sought-after North West metropolitan corridor," Mr Grylls said.

The Eglington landholding is four kilometres north of LandCorp's Alkimos development, which it is developing in partnership with national development giant Lend Lease.

LandCorp general manager metropolitan Luke Willcock said the project would assist with land supply and help meet the strong residential demand in the North West Corridor.

"We want to see Eglinton emerge as an attractive, affordable, self sustaining community which embodies robust designs with the flexibility to adapt to changing demographics and lifestyles," Mr Willcock said..

"The Eglinton development will provide a diversity of housing choices and community facilities that embraces the Urban Development Institute of Australia's (UDIA) EnviroDevelopment standards."

Mr Willcock said LandCorp's partners would need to embrace our commitment to build a community where the new residents and future generations will share a sense of pride about the place they live.

"Our aspirations for Eglinton include great community facilities and open spaces with easy access to the attractive coastal environment," he said
