LNG Ltd signs EPC contract with Chinese firm

Perth-based Liquefied Natural Gas Limited has announced a $US760 million engineering, procurement and construction contract with China Huanqiu Contracting and Engineering (HQC) Corporation for its 3 million tonne per year LNG project in Queensland.

The contract is for one LNG train, including an LNG tank and related infrastructure with a capacity of 1.9 million tonnes per year at the company's LNG project located at Fisherman's Landing, in the Queensland Port of Gladstone.

LNG Ltd's managing director, Maurice Brand, said the company was pleased to have signed the contract with HQC, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation.

“The Company's primary focus remains on securing gas supply and ensuring the LNG Project is in a position to then quickly progress to FID and commencement of construction,” Mr Brand said in a statement

"With the ongoing support of HQC, the Company is confident of achieving these objectives."

LNG Ltd said it expected to be in position to update shareholders on further details of its gas supply plans during the March quarter.
