Kingsgate Consolidated announced today that chief executive Geoff Day and chief financial officer Austen Perrin have both left the company, just months after joining the gold miner.

Mr Day joined Kingsgate in July while Mr Perrin had been in his role less than four weeks.

It is not known if Mr Day or Mr Perrin left their roles on their own terms or if their employment was terminated by the company.

Mr Day, who was previously an executive general manager at Newcrest Mining, replaced former Kingsgate chief executive officer Gavin Thomas after he passed away from an 18-month battle with a serious illness.

He also held a director role at Kagara, which fell into the hands of administrators in April 2012.

Kingsgate’s board announced it had appointed chairman Ross Smyth-Kirk as interim executive chairman and Tim Benfield, who is the company’s current chief operating officer, as interim chief executive officer.

Its finance general manager Ross Coyle is acting chief financial officer.

Business News contacted Kingsgate for comment.

Shares in Kingsgate were 2.8 per cent lower at the close of trade, at 67.5 cents per share.
