John Holland wins $270m Perth contract

Wholly-owned Leighton Holdings subsidiary John Holland has won a $270 million contract to redevelop the Joondalup Health Campus.

The redevelopment, expected to start in August, is jointly funded by the state government and Ramsay Health Care.

It includes the construction of a new central plant building, three-level public ward block, emergency department, private ward block and St John Ambulance centre.

The total value of the project is $332 million, with John Holland's share estimated at about $270 million.

"This is a significant project for John Holland's business in the West and will further consolidate our capabilities and expertise in the health sector," said John Holland managing director Glenn Palin.

"We look forward to strengthening our relationship with Ramsay Health and the state government of Western Australia as this project moves forward," he said.

Redevelopment of the Joondalup Health Campus, formerly known as the Wanneroo Hospital, is expected to be completed in 2013.

John Holland has secured a $270 million contract for the redevelopment of the Joondalup Health Campus in Perth. The redevelopment, which will commence in August, is jointly funded by the West Australian Government and Ramsay Health Care.

The new contract strengthens John Holland's reputation and experience in Western Australia's health sector.

Undertaken across seven key phases and beginning with an upgrade to access roads and car parking facilities, the redevelopment will include the construction of a new central plant building, three-level public ward block, emergency department, private ward block and St John Ambulance centre.

The total value of the project is $332 million with the value of works under John Holland management estimated at $270 million.

The appointment follows the completion of an earlier expansion to the Joondalup Health Campus by John Holland in 1998. John Holland has partnered with Ramsay Health on a number of key health projects, including several upgrades to the Hollywood Private Hospital, with the most recent due for completion in September 2009.

The Joondalup Health Campus redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2013.
