Milan Jerkovic has resigned as non-executive chairman of Geopacific Resources after five years in the role, and he will be replaced by Ian Clyne.

In a statement, Geopacific said Mr Jerkovic will leave the board due to other work commitments.

He is currently the executive chairman of struggling gold miner Blackham Resources and a non-executive director of Metals X.

Mr Clyne has been a non-executive director of Geopacific since 2016.

He has 11 years’ experience working in Papua New Guinea, most recently as group chief executive officer of Bank South Pacific.

Mr Clyne was awarded the Queen Elizabeth 2nd “Diamond Jubilee” medal for his services to PNG.

Geopacific’s flagship Woodlark gold project is located 600 kilometres east of PNG’s capital, Port Moresby.

Mr Clyne said his priority would be to drive the Woodlark project towards a successful project finance outcome.

“Despite the current global equity and debt market challenges, the project has garnered interest from potential financiers,” he said.
