LOCAL businesswoman Patria Jafferies led the WA’s domination of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards on Friday in Adelaide.
Ms Jafferies’ performance as managing director and co-founder of Dome Coffees Australia resulted her in beating 40 finalists to win the Telstra Business Woman of the Year award.
She also won the AusIndustry Private Sector Award, which followed her success last month in the Telstra Western Australian Business Woman of the Year award.
The State’s success in the national award included Clough Engineering director of resources and technology Sue Murphy winning the Australia Private Sector Award.
Ms Murphy is responsible for human resources, industrial relations, estimating, quality, safety and engineering techno-logy for the Clough Group in Asia and Australia.
The first Dome café opened in 1989 and the company has grown into a multi-million
dollar enterprise supplying coffee to 250 outlets worldwide, including 53 Dome outlets.
Ms Jafferies aims to develop Dome Coffees Australia to a national enterprise listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Fremantle firm wins award
FREMANTLE-BASED company Sealanes has won a national award highlighting family business in Australia.
Sealanes was announced as the winner of the Third Generation category of the 2000 Australian Family Business of the Year Awards at Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast at the weekend.
“Family business is about hard work and determination – my father would be very proud to see where the family business is today,’’ Sealanes managing director Victor Paino said.
“It is an honour to receive this award.”
