Itomic branches out

A MULTI-AWARD winning Perth-based web services company is continuing to grow with an expansion into Melbourne.

Itomic opened its Chapel Street office in South Yarra last week, introducing its website design, development and hosting services to the larger market in order to provide better service to its existing Melbourne-based clients.

Tossing up between Melbourne and Sydney, Itomic co-owner and director Ben Townsend settled on the Victorian capital as he plans to move there in November.

"We have a few clients over there already, sort of strategic alliances, so we already had interests over there," Mr Townsend said.

"It's good to be a national company and we're in for the long haul, so it makes sense to be represented in the eastern states."

Started in 2000 by co-owner and managing director, Ross Gerring, the company has grown its client list to more than 400, including some of the biggest players in the resources, banking and construction industries.

"We target companies across the board, which is an advantage," Mr Townsend said.

"Clients include BGC Contracting, Downing Teal, Chamber of Minerals and Energy and BankWest."

Mr Townsend is confident the Melbourne office will be profitable in just one year of operation, and has plans to expand internationally.

"Because the controlled costs and all the systems we've been investing in here [Perth] are scalable to over there, so it's not like we're starting from scratch," he said.

"It shouldn't be too long until we're humming along."
