Iron site safety panel named

A Panel has been formed to advise the Western Australian Government on health and safety matters arising out of the Ritter Inquiry into safety systems at BHP Billiton Iron Ore sites.

The panel is made up of:

Department of Industry and Resources director general

Dr Jim Limerick or his nominee;

Department of Employment and Consumer Protection director general Brian Bradley or his nominee;

Chamber of Minerals and Energy nominees Nicole Roocke and Reg Howard Smith;

Unions WA nominees Gary Wood and Dave Robinson;

Australian National University occupational health and safety expert Professor Andrew Hopkins; and

Britain’s Health and Safety Executive’s Peter Wilkinson.

Mr Wilkinson is on secondment to the Federal Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources.
