Industry mainstay to retire in June

ONE of the mainstays of the Western Australian recruitment industry, Bunty Paramor, is leaving the industry in June.

Ms Paramor said she was retiring after selling her 50 per cent share in the WA office of Recruitment Solutions to Chandler Macleod late last year.

Ms Paramor said she had foreseen the consolidation within the industry several years ago when she had been running her own firm, Paramor the Recruiters.

“I was approached by John MacSmith from Recruitment Solutions about four years ago,” she said.

“I only sold half of my business to Recruitment Solutions because I wasn’t ready to let it go.

“By buying my business, Recruitment Solutions had bought goodwill in the WA market and also gained some areas of specialisation here.

“The big players will look at gaining that specialisation from some of the small players.”

Ms Paramor said her involvement with Recruitment Solutions had shown her the benefits of being part of a big recruitment group.

“We were a preferred supplier to AMP and that meant setting up a micro site so that any AMP line manager could log onto that site, no matter where they were in Australia, and look for staff,” she said.

“Big companies can do that but small players can’t.”
