Iggy Tan appointed MD for Galaxy

Galaxy Resources has appointed Iggy Tan as the company's managing director.

Mr Tan joined the lithium producer as non-executive director in September this year.

His immediate past role was managing director of Nickelore, where he remains as a director while he has experience in a senior management capacity with SCM Chemicals and Sons of Gwalia.

Prior to those positions he held the position of general manager at Westlime, Iluka Resources, Imdex Minerals and Metals X Limited.

During his time at Iluka, Mr Tan won the Prime Minister's Community and Business Partnership award for industry commitment to local communities in WA. He is also a former chairman of the Western Australian Chamber of Minerals and Energy's (CME) Murchison Regional Council.

GALAXY APPOINTS IGGY TAN AS MANAGING DIRECTOR

Emerging lithium producer Galaxy Resources Limited (ASX:GXY) has announced the appointment of experienced lithium mining operations executive, Mr Iggy Tan, as Managing Director as the company moves towards production from the Mt Cattlin lithium / tantalum project.

Mr Tan joined the Company as non-executive director on 18 September 2008.

Galaxy Chairman, Mr Craig Readhead, said Mr Tan's appointment was a key step in the Company's plan to become a substantial lithium producer.

Former Managing Director, Mr Michael Fotios, will remain on the Galaxy Board as Non Executive Director and consulting to the company in the sales and marketing area.

Mr Tan has held previous senior managerial roles with SCM Chemicals and Sons of Gwalia. Prior to those positions he held the position of General Manager at Westlime, Iluka Resources, Imdex Minerals and Metals X Limited.

Some of his achievements in those positions included the commissioning and operations management of several significant mining and processing projects in Western Australia, including the lithium minerals and lithium carbonate plant at Greenbushes.

His immediate past role was Managing Director of Nickelore Limited, where he remains as a director.

"He will be a great asset for Galaxy to provide the leadership necessary to finalise the bankable feasibility study of the Mt Cattlin lithium / tantalum project as we move towards mining and production," Mr Readhead said.

During his time at Iluka, Mr Tan won the Prime Minister's Community and Business Partnership award for industry commitment to local communities in WA. He is a former Chairman of the Western Australian Chamber of Minerals and Energy's (CME) Murchison Regional Council. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Mr Readhead praised Mr Fotios' commitment and dedication to Galaxy, delivering a solid platform for development and growth.

His industry knowledge and experience will be fundamental to establishing future strategic partnerships and key markets for our products."
