IN BRIEF: Moss Media in liquidation

Wednesday, 23 January, 2008 - 22:00
PUBLISHING company Moss Media Ltd has been put into liquidation by its creditors, thought to have been owed hundreds of thousands of dollars. Creditors of the company, which owned Perth Woman until the middle of last year, voted last week to appoint Booragoon insolvency specialist Dougal McLay as liquidator. Mr McLay had been acting as administrator since December 11, following action by creditors, including the Australian Tax Office. WA Business News has previously reported that Moss Media had sold the Perth Woman fashion magazine to Kaloa Nominees Pty Ltd. However, the business name was owned by another group – Getchamedia Pty Ltd – which registered it in May after the original registration lapsed. Owners of Perth Woman have had a troubled history. The magazine was started by the now-defunct Consolidated Business Media, which sold the publication before it collapsed, owing millions of dollars to creditors. Printing companies are understood to be among the biggest creditors of the group.
