Hesperia presses go on $65m project

PACT Construction has started work on Hesperia’s $65 million Victoria House residential development, located within Montario Quarter. 

Montario Quarter is an infill redevelopment project (a former hospital site) led by the state government’s land agency, DevelopmentWA. 

PACT and Hesperia hosted a breaking-ground ceremony this morning, with the project to deliver more than 80 dwellings across three residential buildings. 

The Victoria House development also includes the revamp of the heritage-listed Victoria House, which plans to feature local hospitality and health-related businesses. 

Hesperia said an announcement revealing those future operators would follow in the coming months. 

Hesperia development director Kyle Jeavons said since launching the project late last year, the company had received a strong response from buyers with a significant portion of the residences now sold. 

Mr Jeavons said the project’s design had been a key drawcard. 

The Victoria House design team includes MJA Studio (lead architect), FINESPUN (project architect), Palassis Architects (heritage architect) and Place Laboratory (landscape architect). 

“The use of locally sourced brick for the new residences has been derived from the existing 1938 heritage building and character of Shenton Park instilling a sense of neighbourhood familiarity from the outset,” Mr Jeavons said. 

“What has also appealed to buyers is the landscape setting and considered design, with features such as higher than average ceilings and fewer residences per floor.

“The unique proposition of living within a Heritage project that is located only 6 kilometres from the CBD and beach is also something our future resident have really embraced as part of their decision to purchase and we look forward to bringing the vision for our future community to life as we enter into this exciting construction phase of the development,.” 

Victoria House features a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, with the development targeting a five-star Green Star rating and an eight-star NatHERS rating. 

The construction of Victoria House is expected to create more than 350 jobs targeting a late 2022 completion date.  

Hesperia - formerly Linc Property and Fini Group - has more than $1 billion wroth of projects under way, including the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct. 

Future projects for the group could also include a possible infill redevelopment at the Graylands Hospital Site, with plans surfacing last week.
