Government appoints new agency heads

After a nationwide search, the state government has announced the appointment of seven Western Australian public servants to head up agencies, including the Department of Water, Department of Commerce and Insurance Commission.

The new Director General for the Department of Water is Maree De Lacey.

Ms De Lacey comes from her recent position as Director for the Peel Development Commission and will hold the position until 2017.

The Department of Commerce has kept its longstanding Director General Brian Bradley, who has held the position since 2002.

Rod Whithear is the new Managing Director of the Insurance Commission having previously been the Executive Director of Strategic Policy and Evaluation at the Department of Treasury.

Prior to todays announcements, Kieran Kinsella left his position as CEO of the Midland Redevelopment Authority to become CEO of the newly established Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority.

The Directors of the Gascoyne, Goldfields-Esperance, Kimberley and Great Southern Development Commissions were also announced.

When stating the positions, Public Sector Commissioner Mal Wauchope expressed his gratitude to the candidates for their ongoing contributions to WA’s public sector.
