Geraldton contractor expands

Geraldton-based earthmoving and mining contractor Central Earthmoving has expanded its operational capacity through the take-over of a local mulching company and the acquisition of new machinery.

The company announced it has completed the acquisition of Geraldton mulching business Braddon Landcare and Vegetation Management.

The purchase of Braddon has added to the company’s capacity to service local government and the forestry and mining industries.

The machinery includes two mulching machines and a swing-arm slasher which have been specifically designed to minimise environmental impact and are endorsed by the Fire and Emergency Services Authority and Department of Environment and Conservation.

Central Earthmoving managing director Craig Patterson said the purchase of Braddon fitted with the company’s expansion plans.

“We believe the move is a strategic fit for our business by providing best practice in environmental management,” he said.

Previous owner of Braddon, Brad McLean, will join the company as the lead trainer and operator of the former Braddon machines.

Central Earthmoving has also acquired new road construction machinery to increase its road construction and servicing capabilities for mine haul roads.

“These additions allow us to provide a complete service to the road industry and we’ve recognised the critical need for well-trained personnel, quality equipment and the latest technologies,” Mr Patterson said.
