GST focus for expo

Tuesday, 18 April, 2000 - 22:00
Despite the volume of GST seminars and information available, many businesses still have unanswered questions.

They will have a chance to get more answers at the Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo.

The Australian Tax Office will have a significant presence at the expo, including a number of staffed information booths where business people can consult individually with the ATO’s GST consultants.

In addition to free consultations, there will be free GST guides and information handouts at the booths.

Expo organiser Leigh Kealton said it was important that this year’s show took a GST flavour.

“We’ve arranged a line-up of ATO, ACCC and other speakers in a special tax forum, covering topics of interest and importance every half-hour starting at 11:00am daily,” Mr Kealton said.

“Topics include an overview of the new taxes, the most commonly asked questions, GST and pricing guidelines from the ACCC, software to help businesses complete GST returns and more.

“It is important to remember that, while the GST is the major topic, there are also other important tax changes effective from 1 July.

“The expo provides an excellent opportunity to come face-to-face with those in the know to get answers and solutions before implementation.”

Entry to the expo is $8, including all seminars and workshops.

The Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo runs from 5 to 7 May at the Burswood Dome.
