GR Engineering Services has been awarded a $17.9 million design and construction contract for a backfill plant at gold miner Saracen Mineral Holdings’ Carosue Dam operations near Kalgoorlie.

Under the contract, GR will complete engineering design, supply, construction and commissioning for a paste backfill plant with a capacity of 110 to 120 metres cubed per hour of paste to fill stopes in the Karari underground mine.

Work will begin immediately, with completion expected in the second half of the 2019 financial year.

“GR Engineering’s team has a historical involvement with Carosue Dam, initially in 2000 when the original processing facilities were commissioned,” managing director Geoff Jones said.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to continue our involvement with Carosue Dam and work with Saracen on the safe and successful delivery of the paste plant.”

Shares in GR were flat at $1.39 each at 3.10pm AEDT.
