Focus on working images

Tuesday, 4 September, 2001 - 22:00
IS this how you picture the Australian working ethos? Road workers out early on a cold winter’s morning, doing their bit to keep the machine that is Perth city running smoothly?

The image came from a brief to our photographer Donna Swan to capture an image of people at work, and the result seems an appropriate way of kicking off a new competition by Business News.

We are looking to our readers for the quintessential image of work. Maybe it’s a building site, on a farm or even in the boardroom.

Be it travelling to work, people at work, machines at work, or going home from work, we are looking for that inspired picture that perfectly captures the moment.

Business News, in conjunction with Perth Camera House, is offering a Sony DSCP50 Cybershot for the winning entry, which will be judged by the

eagle eyes at Business News, including Ms Swan.

We are looking for something different, so don’t hold back.

And don’t forget to read the rules carefully. If you are taking photographs on the premises of your employer or someone else’s business, get permission from the appropriate people. If you are taking pictures of people who are clearly recognisable, get their permission too.

You have six weeks to get your material in. We look forward to seeing the results and publishing some of the best pictures in the lead-up to revealing the award winner.
