Restaurant Amuse in East Perth and Lalla Rookh in the CBD have featured in a listing of Australia’s top 100 restaurants.

At a gala dinner at The Star in Sydney last night, Melbourne’s Attica was crowned as Australia’s top restaurant in the awards, which are sponsored by The Australian Financial Review and Qantas and voted by top chefs and restaurateurs around Australia.

For the second year running, Restaurant Amuse was ranked highest in Western Australia, at number 49.

The East Perth restaurant was hailed as one of the state’s most awarded fine diners.

“The simple, stylish dining room doesn’t prepare you for the ruthlessly inventive, highly focused dishes that make up the thrill-a-minute degustation dining experience,” the awards website stated.

David Thompson’s Long Chim Perth on Barrack Street came in at 67 on the list for its variety menu including pat Thai prawns, curry noodles and hot and sour chicken wing soup, while Lalla Rookh’s big-flavoured Italian food put the restaurant on the list at 71.

Clarke's of North Beach also represented WA on the list, at 77, for its edgy modern Australian cooking with an emphasis on locally sourced produce, and local winery Vasse Felix Winery & Restaurant took the 88th spot on the top 100 list for its boundary-blurring cuisine mixed with obligatory vineyard views.
