Fenner Dunlop in $20m Kwinana expansion

Conveyer belt manufacturer Fenner Dunlop has announced a $20 million expansion of its Kwinana plant.

The expansion, which will double the capacity of the Kwinana facility, will increase Fenner Dunlop’s production capacity to around 200,000 metres per annum and will boost its workforce by 30 per cent.

Fenner Dunlop executive director, David Landgren said the expansion represented a vote of confidence in the local economy.

“Mining companies in Western Australia now have the convenience of dealing with a substantial and state-of the-art heavyweight conveyor belt manufacturer in their own backyard,” Mr Landgren said.

“Previously the state’s resources and industrial sector, particularly the iron ore industry, relied on importing a large percentage of the heavyweight steel-reinforced conveyor belting required for their operations.

“Our plant is close to our customers, allowing us to provide a quality product, reducing lead times and keeping investment in the State. We think our location and quality product will also make this plant’s products competitive in the global supply chain for conveyor belts.”

The expansion of the Kwinana plant will also allow Fenner Dunlop to double its trainee intake, from 36 to 72 per year, Mr Landgren said.
