THE Cancer Council of WA is promoting the Fabulous Forties 2006 calendar to help raise funds for cancer research. Cindy Franklin, who founded the calendar, said it was hoped the money raised would be able to help current and future cancer patients. "We hope to raise up to $200,000 but would really like to make that $250,000," she said. Ms Franklin said the women involved in the calendar had family and friends who had been affected by cancer. "Each lady [in the calendar] represents a country and native flower of her choice, portraying unity and life," she said. Ms Franklin said she was looking for companies to sponsor the printing, packaging and distribution of the calendar. "The more sponsors we get the more money goes towards research into cancer," she said. The Fabulous Forties 2006 calendar will be launched on the 7th January at Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club. The Cancer Council is a non-profit, non-government organisation that relies on donations to fund programs and services. The council funds cancer and leukaemia research, community education projects and a range of support services to cancer patients and their carers.
