SHARES in Fortescue Metals Group soared as much as 40 per cent on speculation the miner could be the target of a takeover bid by BHP Billiton or a Chinese firm. Fortescue shares rose more than 40 per cent in intraday trade and were up 61 cents, or 29.61 per cent, to $2.67 at 1532 AEDT
