WA company Fastbrick Robotics has entered a contract to supply a $5 million St James townhouse development – its first multi-home deal.

FBR will provide Perth developer Ricuallo its ‘wall as a service’ offering, which charges customers based on an area of walls constructed, to help build eight two-storey townhouses.

It Hadrian X construction robot will construct the slab, footings and structural walls, second storey slab and roof trusses for the project.

The deal is worth an estimated $500,000 and work will start as soon as the development is approved.

FBR chief executive Mike Pivac said the company has spent the last 12 months introducing the Hadrian X into the real-world building environment to showcase the technology to WA builders.

“Now that we have demonstrated all the benefits the Hadrian X provides, we are now going to ramp up the utilisation of our technology, while continuing the development work at our research and development facility,” he said.

FBR is currently using its technology to construct five houses in Wellard.

It is understood the technology can lay as many bricks as two bricklayers can in a single day.

Shares in FBR were up 8.6 per cent to 3.8 cents each at the time of writing.
