Financial Dynamics Workshop

On Wednesday June 25, the Entrepreneurship and Business Development Unit of Curtin Business School is conducting a Financial Dynamics Workshop, in the Garnault Room, Level 47 of the BankWest Tower, 108 St Georges Terrace, Perth.

Developed for business owners, partners and other key staff within small and medium sized businesses, the workshop will focus on business performance and developing a better understanding of the financial aspects of your business.

Participants of the workshop will learn skills such as how to analyse their current operations with a view to improving financial performance; use financial information for strategic planning, business improvement and decision making purposes; identify and control working capital requirements especially within cash hungry growing businesses; introduce approaches for improving profitability; and manage cash flow more effectively.

Dispute Resolution Workshop

On Wednesday June 25, Centrecare Corporate is conducting a one day Dispute Resolution workshop at its premises at 456 Hay Street, Perth.

The workshop has been designed for human resources managers, team leaders and supervisory staff, and will provide attendees with a theoretical and practical framework for assessing and intervening to resolve workplace conflict and will be presented by a team of consultants who have unique expertise in interpersonal and organisational conflict resolution.

Issues to be addressed during the workshop include approaching conversation with people who might be highly emotional; assessing whether counselling, mediation, training or management consultancy might be most effective when dealing with disputes and conflict; and developing proactive and early intervention strategies that will be helpful in the early resolution of conflict.

Managing Performance and Conduct Seminar

The Australian Institute of Management is holding a seminar on Monday June 23, entitled Managing Performance and Conduct: The New Unfair Dismissal Laws, in the Leadership Centre at the Australian Institute of Management.

The seminar will be presented by Clayton Utz, partner and workplace relations and employment lawyer, Glen Bartlett, who will demonstrate some real life scenarios and case studies which will illustrate the types of situations that may be encountered in today’s workplace.

Areas that will be covered in this seminar include, an overview of legal requirements; tips for setting performance standards; dispelling some of the myths about managing performance and conduct; practical guidelines to minimise the risk of unfair dismissal claims; and counselling advice that will assist with maximising the performance of employees while also minimising the risk of unfair dismissal claims when dealing with poor performing employees.

Kyoto Protocol Seminar

The Western Australian Sustainable Energy Association is holding a seminar on Tuesday June 24, entitled In The National Interest?: Arguments Why Australia Should Not Sign The Kyoto Protocol, at the Piney Lakes Environmental Centre from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.

The seminar will feature an exclusive opportunity to hear Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association, executive director, Barry Jones who will present a different set of views on the implications for Australia signing or not signing the Kyoto Protocol. Mr Jones will also take questions from the audience at the conclusion of his presentation.

Indian Trade Delegation Dinner

The Australia-India Chamber of Commerce WA in conjunction with the Indian Consulate in Perth and WA Business News are hosting an Indian Trade Delegation Dinner, on Thursday June 26, at the Agni Indian Restaurant, 17 Wonton Street, Innaloo.
