Perth-based green power utility Enerji has signed an agreement with Poseidon Nickel that will pave the way for the company's waste heat recovery system to be installed in Poseidon's Windarra power station.

Enerji announced today it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Poseidon to include the Opcon Powerbox waste heat recovery system in feasibility studies for the Windarra powerhouse, due to be constructed in the second half of 2012.

Enerji said the technology would provide up to 700kW of fuel and emissions free power to the station.

Following a successful feasibility study, Enerji and Poseidon would enter negotiations for a power purchase agreement.

“Enerji is very pleased to be assisting Poseidon with the clean energy aspects of its substantial redevelopment of the Windarra mine,” chief executive Greg Pennefather said.

“This is a text book application of our waste heat recovery system for a mine located in the northern goldfields of WA where diesel is the only option for power generation.”

Poseidon chief executive Davide Singleton said he believed Enerji'st technology would deliver real benefits to shareholders and help to minimise the company's environmental footprint.
