End-of-year settlement likely for Howard Street heritage sale

The former Parker & Parker solicitors office building on Howard Street in Perth has been sold for about $3.6 million.

WA Business News understands the building is poised to return to its legal roots, with a law firm believed to be the buyer.

However, it is understood that the transaction is not expected to settle until the end of the year.

Selling agent Ron Farris Real Estate would not comment on the deal.

There is industry talk that a wine bar could be developed in the basement of the three-level building when the new owners take over in January.

Heritage Council of WA records indicate the building has a cellar. This could suit the development of a wine bar.

The building, located at 21 Howard Street, was bought by UK-based Minattee Properties Ltd for $375,000 in 1997 and was passed in at auction six years later, when the highest bid was $1.5 million.

The stucco façade office block was built in 1905 in Federation Anglo-Dutch style and housed legal firm Parker & Parker until 1964.

It was entered into the Heritage Council’s register of heritage places in 1993.

The building has a land area of 270 square metres and currently houses Art Equity, Charnaud Fund Management, and architects and designers HBO EMTB.
