Osborne Park-based EMCO Building has been awarded a state government contract worth $37.6 million for the first stage of construction of Butler North secondary school.

Under the contract, Emco will build a series of single and double storey buildings designed to accommodate 725 students.

The school will be built on a 10 hectare site between Santorini Promenade and John Butler Primary College.

The project is expected to be completed in 2020.

The state government has allocated $52.4 million to the construction of the school as part of a $468.7 million education infrastructure investment.

“New primary and secondary schools in high-growth areas are providing families with first-class, modern learning environments to best meet their children’s needs, while additional support staff in our schools are supporting our students where they need it most," Education Minister Sue Ellery said.

Emco was recently awarded a $12.8 million contract to build an accommodation complex at Catherine’s College at the University of Western Australia.

The company is currently completing works at Hale.
