Electricity Supply and Demand

The Australian Institute of Energy will hold Electricity Supply Demand Balance on Wednesday September 29 at the Parmelia Hilton Perth.

Western Power Networks Business Unit senior manager Phil Southwell will facilitate the seminar.

Mr Southwell will provide an overview of the current status of the electricity supply demand balance in the South West interconnected system of WA and the consequent opportunities for new generation.

The presentation will begin with an overview of power system reliability around the world and will focus on some recent blackouts that have occurred, and will move on to cover the Generation Status Review which is due to be released in time for this presentation.

The Generation Status Review provides a snapshot of opportunities that exist in the electricity market for new generators and retailers to enter, and gives an insight into what the future may hold for the electricity market in Western Australia.

Mr Southwell will also discuss methodology and criteria, the supply demand balance, and its relationship to electricity reform, opportunities for others, looking to the future and some broader associated issues.

Registrations can be made with the Australian Institute of Energy for $45 for members and $65 for non-members.
