Locally established drilling contractor Eftech International has been acquired by a Netherlands oil and gas services business looking to secure a foothold in Australia.

Well Services Group (WSG) bought Jandakot-based Eftech International, which was formed in 2014, for an undisclosed amount.

Eftech co-founder and managing director Andrew Manning said the deal would produce a competitive integrated business, combining its drilling, shutdown and maintenance services with WSG’s LNG operations.

For WSG, it grants the company its first exposure to the Australian industrial services market, an area it has been looking to target.

WSG’s core work is currently focused on North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia, while Eftech has operational centres in Perth, Darwin, Sydney and Adelaide.

“WSG will be able to deliver market-leading technologies through the Eftech infrastructure, representing a value to customers in the midstream, downstream and infrastructure markets,” WSG’s process, pipeline and industrial services chief executive Andrew Burrell said.

The new business in Australia will be dubbed WSG Eftech Australia to maintain brand recognition.

Eftech said there would be no changes to the company’s organisational structure or any redundancies among its 120 full-time employees.
